"Make A Difference" during
National Safety Month

Every 4 minutes, someone is killed as a result of a preventable injury. After years of decline, the rate of unintentional injuries and deaths in the US has risen to new and unacceptable levels. This year's National Safety Month observance reflects the urgency needed to reverse this trend. The National Safety Council is committed to working with all levels of government, the nation's employers and the general public to "make a difference." By dramatically reducing the leading risks to our safety and health, we can save billions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of lives.

CPR and AED Awareness Week Launches NSC's National Safety Month Observance
  • 300,000 Americans experience sudden cardiac arrest each year.
  • 95 percent of cardiac arrest victims die before arriving at the hospital.
  • Effective bystander CPR delivered immediately after cardiac arrest - before medical personnel have time to arrive -- can double a victim's chance of survival.
